Ljubljana, 27 May 2021 – SIJ Metal Ravne, the second largest company in the SIJ Group, launched a new specialized heat treatment line in the forge worth 5.8 million euros. The completed investment is in line with the development strategy of strengthening the production and sales program and orienting it towards steel groups that are the most advanced, have a higher added value and whose end users are customers from some of the most demanding sectors such as the energy sector, the aeronautical, oil and gas industries, and others.
SIJ Metal Ravne, the second largest company in the SIJ Group and the third largest producer of tool steels in the European Union, has launched a new specialized line in the forge. The investment worth 5.8 million euros is designed for heat treatment of products used in some of the most demanding sectors such as the energy sector, the aeronautical, oil and gas industries, and others, where SIJ Metal Ravne plans to increase its presence in the upcoming years in accordance with its business development strategy.
"The heat treatment line, along with ESR4, the new Electro Slag Remelting plant, and the modernization and automation of the middle line in the rolling mill, is one of the investments with which SIJ Metal Ravne completes the latest in a series of investments that support our efforts to strengthen our position in the most demanding markets and in the eyes of the most demanding customers. These are the energy sector, the aeronautical, oil and gas industries, where customers are already placing new orders," explains Borut Urnaut, the Managing Director of SIJ Metal Ravne.
The new heat treatment line consists of two dual chamber furnaces. Each of them has a high and low temperature furnace, a feeding manipulator, quenching tanks and an automation system, ensuring higher productivity, better traceability and greater precision in the execution of heat treatments.
Domen Kosi, Head of the Heat Treatment Department of the SIJ Metal Ravne Forging Program: "The hardening line is a great asset for the SIJ Metal Ravne Forging Program, as it is designed for the most demanding heat treatments of steels and alloys, allowing for improved mechanical properties of our steels, especially in terms of hardness and strength." The investment will be used to increase the sales of SITHERM tool steels for hot-work, SIMOLD tool steels for plastic injection molding and SIHARD cold-work tool steels, as well as SINOXX stainless steels and SIQUAL structural steels, which are sought after by customers in the most demanding sectors. The company also plans to establish itself more firmly in the market for high-quality and technologically advanced products and in the aeronautical industry. The ISO 9100 certification obtained last year will certainly contribute towards this goal.
